A Mother’s Day ask from HEATED
33 percent off annual paid subscriptions to help keep climate journalism free for everyone.
Hello and Happy Mother’s Day! In honor of the matriarch who makes all life possible—talking about Mother Earth, duh—today I’m offering 33 percent off all annual paid subscriptions to HEATED.
When you subscribe to HEATED, you’re making sure everyone, regardless of income, can access clear, independent reporting and analysis on powerful interests screwing with Mother Earth for profit. In the last two months, paid subscribers have supported stories about, among other things:
The growing, multi-pronged effort to make Big Oil legally untouchable
The evolution of Big Oil’s advertising and marketing strategy
The electric car myths that even smart people are falling for
Over the next few months, paid subscribers will also be supporting deep-dive investigations about the growing fight over solar development in the U.S., how fossil fuel interests are infiltrating schools, and other stories about the people and institutions fueling the climate crisis.
And paid subscribers aren’t just making written articles accessible for everyone. They’re also supporting our audio podcast, YouTube, and social channels—which we also give away for free. We only started that operation two months ago, but we’re already seeing an audience grow. Most notably, our episode debunking electric car myths has gotten more than 80,000 downloads.
We really want to keep giving this stuff away for free! Tracy and I think it’s so important that climate journalism isn’t walled off from the people who need it most. But we really can’t continue to do it unless more readers with the means to do so voluntarily choose to pay. HEATED has more than 140,000 readers, but fewer than 4 percent pay to support it. That’s great, but it’s not enough to support growth.
So if you believe climate journalism should be free to read, free to watch, free to listen to, and free from corporate sponsors, fossil fuel ads, billionaire owners, and paywalls—and if you have the means—please become a paid subscriber today.
Consider it a small gift to Mother Earth, and a very real investment in the journalism defending her.
Thank you, as always, for being here. Love y’all and Happy Mother’s Day!
