You two are doing amazing work. It is maddening how much journalism people have come to expect for free. Keep making us think about such an enormous challenge in front of us all.

I turn to Heated for all climate insight ... especially when my “something’s sketchy here” antennae are quivering uncontrollably ... and you amazing writers/sleuths have pulled together all the loose threads to weave the story into one that makes sense. Thank you for that dedication. I’ve shared Heated with important climate justice workers in my community and they have shared with others. We are grateful for you and your work. Happy Holidays 🥳

Thank you both for the amazing, insightful and impactful work you've done this past year!! I hopped on board when Emily started this endeavor and I have not been disappointed, ever. Even during the hiatus, we still got occasional posts from Emily keeping us up on important climate news. I was inspired to share this newsletter with another Substacker I subscribe to when she mentioned the "historic" climate news coming out of COP28. Long may you ladies ferret out the skunks that are overheating our world, and long may our dear Fish continue to enjoy stellar birthdays! <3

Western governments facing climate reality.

Latest….All our national news-papers are reporting this with much commentary, and slamming our Federal government for the prosperity killing Carbon tax.

The Ottawa- based Macdonald- Laurier Institute has named Steven Guilbeault, federal minister of environment and climate change, its 2023 policymaker of the year. “Ruthless, reckless and damaging,” the cover of the latest issue of MLI’S Inside Policy magazine calls him, announcing its choice.

Standing out for reckless and damaging policy-

A Political New-year’s Resolution on Climate Change.

It’s clear that many western governments are now experiencing a political shift in thinking on the reality and risks of following a NetZero policy, and we predict new political resolutions on the approach to climate change in the new year and beyond.

Happy New Year…

Here are two examples of what to expect in 2024 as we defuse the climate groupthink and start a move toward Climate reality.

Criminals Against Humanity

We should declare climate change activists and those in authority that support NetZero as “Criminals Against Humanity” and a clear and present danger to global prosperity.

The concept of eliminating fossil fuels which is the main source of sustainability and prosperity for many decades to come for most civilizations is asinine.

We are being forced into alternative technologies and solutions that are either unavailable, not ready, or scientifically un-capable. It will reduce prosperity and increase suffering across the globe.

Further, the NetZero action on the mitigation of CO2 emissions is far beyond any threat of the outcome of an increase in global temperatures, and a far better priority would be adaptation (if needed) using the power of fossil fuels.

In fact, the so-called threat of increasing CO2 on many fronts is a benefit not a threat, as it is increasing the food supply across the biosphere of our planet.

This NetZero mandate is being driven by propaganda and fanaticism that is polarizing our institutions where open alternative dialogue and contrary expert opinions is being suppressed and subjugated. This process is radicalizing our youth and creating a dangerous false consensus.

It is time for national governments to form their own commissions to push back on most of the UN initiatives, as they have clearly lost any form of reality or responsibility and brings into question the real motives of these dangerous agendas.

Lets hope 2024 brings more common sense.

And the Straw Dog, Hate Monger, Misinformation Compiler Triple Crown goes to....Nigel! Thanks for keeping us up to date on the latest ad hominem attacks and other diversionary and completely irrelevant strategies used by those vested fossil fuel sources bent on delaying the needed transition away from fossil fuels in order to protect their stranded assets and bottom lines.

No hate... Just stating facts ... we are not going to backdown to the stupidity so get used to it..

Expand full comment

Really? Do you know the definition of hate?

"To feel strong dislike for or hostility toward." is a pretty good one, so just a couple examples from your post above:

--"We should declare climate change activists.....as “Criminals Against Humanity” hmmm....I'd call that name-calling with an attitude at best.

--"The concept of eliminating fossil fuels...is asinine." Prejudicial judgement, not a fact at all.

You aren't here for dialogue when you begin by casting aspersions right and left and pronouncing everything as stupid here and elsewhere in your posts. It's blatantly obvious that you're only here to disrupt. You have no interest in discussing the facts, only....mongering hate, compiling misinformation and throwing in as many straw dogs as you can.

Look….I have posted many information pieces on this site, and they are all informed fact based opinions…. But many of you do not want to look at the facts unless it fits your fanatical view.

Its clear that in the main the definition of Fanatic: “One Who Can’t Change His Mind Even When Presented with Facts and Won’t Change the Subject”.. applies well.

So, its time to declare that this false consensus situation represents a threat to common sense and the correct outcome.

I suggest your new year resolution is to listen to facts from all sides a lot more rather than the rhetoric you are being fed, and worry far less about being offended, and have more tolerance to free speech.

And, if you are offended you must learn to build more resilience as it will need very strong dialogue to get out of this mess we are in.

Could you show me an example of where you did not wrap your "fact" in insults, hyperbole, and other evidence that your intent was not a discussion about the facts so much as they are a demand that we drop any concern about the impact that fossil fuel emissions are having on the atmosphere and oceans of the planet? I can certainly give you plenty of examples of where your posts are exactly that. I have looked at your links and see nothing even approaching an open discussion of the facts.

So resilience? Yes. Nature has shown a great deal of it against the increasingly hostile conditions created by our emissions and habitat fragmentation. I suggest you consider rejoining the planet and help it get through this bottleneck we've created for it.

Ken..... I would value a discussion on the facts, but you must realize that we are in an environment where the facts have become distorted and subjugated with politics.. If you can please read through my article which has significant input from experts then I am happy to explain/discuss the details if it it will assist..... https://www.brainzmagazine.com/post/take-back-manufacturing-climate-realism
