Saw the CA suit and was quite pleased. But super impressed that HEATED helped build the evidence. I've been a long time supporter - and this is a bigger impact than I ever expected. Great work!!! And looking forward to other prosecutors using your expertise and work. 😁
This is so meta. You're doing such good journalism holding power to account that you get to do good journalism about how good journalism is needed to hold power to account.
This also makes me realize how much I've learned about journalism from the journey of this newsletter. When Emily decided to break away from traditional news to do what she felt it was falling short off, then did an absolutely incredible job of it, and then went through a very public burnout, I hope she realizes that she was more or less live blogging an incredible case study about the cost of, and capacity needed, to do the kind of journalism a democracy requires. As a reader I appreciated the work and felt the loss when she stepped away. "This is needed, you can't do it alone, it has a cost". Please know it has all brought perspective to someone like me. So, Thank you.
Good on you. Now, we see if this lawsuit ever makes it beyond the gate. I am sure you will be watching this and letting us know how it all works out. Keep it up.

I mean, we readers already know HEATED is legit, but good to see that other people recognize it too. Congrats!
