The latest Fox News outrage cycle shows how the GOP regularly uses global conflict to advocate against climate action—a trend which experts say actually harms the global fight against terror.
My first thoughts while reading this were, "Wow! Fox 'News' is distorting the truth! So what else is new?" followed by "What's the point of explaining their duplicity and the dangers of their tactics? Their listeners prefer to be lied to if it supports their existing bias, and abhor the truth if it doesn't. Like so many other efforts to set the record straight, those who need to read this won't, and those who do read it don't need to."
Then I realized that the only thing we have to work with is the truth. Speaking the truth, calmly and forcefully, on a consistent basis, has enormous power to change the minds of those who truly seek the best possible outcome - people like the late Senator McCain, and Senator Snow. All we can do is continue to present the facts, and pray that the sorcerers of deceit eventually lose their appeal.
As for the crisis in Israel - I taught in international schools in Cairo and Ghana for 6 years. One of my former students (from Ghana) was a member of the IDF who was slaughtered last Saturday. I have several friends here in the US who are strong supporters of the nation of Israel. Meanwhile I have friends and former students from Cairo posting the Palestinian flag on social media. I'm reminded of the famous quote by Jimmy Carter: "Ladies and gentlemen: War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children."
Violence and hatred, exacerbated by the devastating effects of climate change, can never bring peace or prosperity. It will always bring more deaths, more suffering, more misery. God help us all.

The overwhelming media barrage and nonsensical messaging that is portraying Justin Trudeau as inept and “alone in his obsession with climate change”, is relentless with its messaging. The right wing conservative journalism, and the insistent derogatory comments from Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre are scathing in their ridicule of Trudeau’s efforts for climate.
