Vanity Fair really appealing to the "vanity" in their name with Nuzzi's hire and their promotion of her memoir. It still doesn't seem as bad as Bari Weiss's elevation to a prominent role at CBS News, but it ranks up there.
Can't think of anything to disagree with you on Emily. I had no inkling of any of this, the relationship (which sounds profoundly strange as described) and improbable as I find RFKjr so repugnant. Well done.
What the fuck? The Nuzzi stuff never entered my feed so I was pretty unaware of it but using a horrible fire as background for an affair for RFK jr of all people is one of the most bizzare and awful things Ive read this week.
Also really like the Benedict Arnold line and the rest of the article is exemplary as usual!
A sad commentary on the state of affairs in the United States. Anyone who wants to be a someone will do whatever it takes to become that someone because it's all about the Benjamins in the end. Very little else matters. Even if the planetary ecosystems collapse around them, it doesn't matter because they will try to figure out a way to make money off of it in the short term. And that's all that matters. Make a profit in the short term. Who cares about tomorrow.
Thanks Emily. I hadn't ever heard of Nuzzi 'til a few days ago when something flitted across my screen about RFK cheatin' with her. RFK shagging some Barbie-esque reporter being about as shocking as gambling at Rick's Cafe. I guess she went a bit beyond Hunter Thompson's gonzo journalism lessons.
i was certainly unaware of any video of her utilizing the fire as a prop. Creepy. Hey one thing about others blaming the fires on malfeasance and incompetence with LA mayor or FD. It's not just that it's hotter, or drier or windier. The hot dry Santa Ana winds have pushed fires down the hillsides for years, almost always from Sep-Nov or early Dec. NEVER BEFORE IN JANUARY!
And RFK and global heating. Weird. Weird squared! He might have made an interesting USDA boss, but then I'd need to hear even more how the damn soil could suck all the carbon out of the air, please don't put solar over it. In reality, a solar farm here in the SW displaces 200 tons of CO2/yr that would have resulted from combusting coal. Regenerative ag sequesters 5 tons/yr if all the ducks are in a row. And if it's grazed, that barely offsets the global heating from cattle or sheep burping CH4.
