Whoa! I got a text message from this group on Wednesday:

"No more half-measures. No more wasting time. We must act NOW. Our planet is in danger, and this may be the last chance we get to do something about it. We MUST demand action by Rep. Pressley to get true environmental justice or block the Reconciliation package. Tell her to take action on real planet-saving climate change legislation today at https://takethefacts.com/prlfo Reply STOP to opt out."

I have to say Ems, I think it's bad form to refer to a backroom deal with ALL white people that had no input from climate and environmental justice groups as a "historic climate deal." Dr Stokes is exercising A LOT of paternalism here and we all know that if a group of Black men made a backroom deal about the reproductive rights of white women, 911 would be called on them faster than them being at a BBQ in Oakland and they'd be taken for a walk on a plank named after Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Looks like many green groups forgot about their 2020 racial justice statements.

When getting Google ads, I often report those like United for Clean Power. It's pretty obvious that the thrust is to derail the Climate bill in the Senate. I report those & all the specious, lying TFG ads as "Ad was inappropriate." As far as I'm concerned, those ads ARE inappropriate! ;) Love that you're back with us & charging us up again... and we're still getting Fish pics! <3

This is complicated - in all the rhetoric I missed the cost-benefit comparison for why this IS the best we could get. Coupled with the sellouts and the parliamentarian and the ticking clock and the Dems' habit of caving. What can be delivered in time for elections? And who pays, who profits?

I'm completely ignorant on the financial aspects of online journalism from major outlets like Politico but I would think considering how many outlets have paywalls and subscriptions now, they could at least stop accepting fossil fuel money for financial reasons, if they won't do it for moral reasons.

And Politico is smart enough to not be fooled by this deception, they just don't care. It is absolutely despicable.

I remember you writing about the New York Times accepting fossil fuel money for ads, do you know if they still do?

On Joe Manchin, he certainly got his pound of flesh, but I'm hoping that changing conditions, market or policy wise, make his fossil fuel provisions practically irrelevant to the greatest extent possible. The numbers I have seen from most models on the bill are 24 tons of emissions prevented for every 1 ton emitted. Which isn't 0 tons emitted but it is what it is.

Also I've been curious for a while now but always forgot to ask, what type of dog is Fish?

Thank you for the wonderful article like always!

There is something absolutely fantastic about a picture of a dog looking up at the camera, tongue hanging out, with a gigantic smile on his face. Thanks, Fish!

Oh, and the article is pretty good too. I'm pretty sure I saw the ad with the three smiling squad ladies and was wondering if they approved. I'm guessing not - and I'm hoping they're raising hell about using their image without their approval.

Overall, I'm amazed at the everyday use of Nixon-style dirty tricks in today's politics. In my district in west Michigan, Dems were encouraged to vote on the Republican side (both parties are on the Michigan primary ballot, but you can only pick one) for Gibbs, the radical cult member who was picked to run against Congressman Peter Meijer, who voted yes on tfg's second impeachment. Dems are doing this all over the country, encouraged by the Dem leaders. NYTimes abhors the practice but many individuals and organizations are saying fight fire with fire.

Used to be "dirty tricks" were generally frowned upon and seldom used. Nowadays they're as common as iPhones and obesity.
