I love this as a reminder not just to never stop pushing forward, but also as a reminder of how easily groupthink takes hold among influential people. So much of this narrative was driven by KXL's advocates trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy - have influencers believe it was inevitable and discourage opponents from feeling the fight is worth the effort. So grateful to those who pushed through (and reported on it along the way!) and I'll always take this as a lesson of how we chart our own destiny.
Love this so much! They said the same thing about the Constitution Pipeline (NY/PA, killed 2014) and now say the same about the North Brooklyn Pipeline (NYC, currently opposed by residents who are going on a bill strike to fight it!) thank you for this newsletter every day!
One of the most hopeful posts I’ve read in a long time. Between climate change, the possible end of American democracy and the continuing polarization of wealth I often find solace from a recent health diagnosis in the fact I might not have to live through the horror of the collapse. Posts like these remind me no matter how it looks it’s not set in stone. Truly gives me reason to fight. PS not trolling for sympathy here, just have been interesting to see my psyche deal with it this way.
Btw, last night, my bf and I looked up a list of questions for the "newlywed game" where you try to get how your partner would answer questions. For "what celebrity would they want to be stuck on a desert island with" he guessed Emily Atkin. Amazing answer. And he doesn't even know about the weightlifting and hydration. wow.

What a powerful reminder it is to never stop fighting for what is right. Thank you.

ahh, gloating time! I still have about a case of beers to collect from Congressional staffers who took the wrong side of that bet.
Hahaha I love this
This cracked me up....especially when I got to the Fish part :)
Stunning how many VIPs had ‘no brains’ regarding this outcome.
Delightful!

Today's newsletter is yet ANOTHER reason to dance today.
Thank you, Emily! :-)
#NoKXL FOR THE WIN!
As much as I enjoy and learn from your newsletters, I have to admit, I look forward to the Fish pics too! He's just too darned photogenic!! :)
