The democratic centrists who shaped Biden's climate policy believed renewables would overwhelm fossil fuels due to market economic forces and as you point out, the politics of siting renewable infrastructure in red states. That completely underestimated the power and resilience of fossil fuel interests now unleashed by the Trump regime and the Supreme Court. Next time, if there is one, a new, more favorable President needs to be as aggressive as Trump, but favoring renewables and reducing the sources of greenhouse gases.
If I'm lucky, I only have approximately another 25 years left above ground and I'm anticipating the United States national debt becoming so large, it will bankrupt the government within my last years.
All of this fighting over the taxpayer money is only going to lead to more people losing out and pretty soon, it won't matter which party is in charge. The oligarchs will be in charge and those of us who are left alive will have two choices. Stay and die or leave the country for a better standard of living. Time is running out for those of us who don't make more than six figures a year. They'll kill us with pollution in the places we can afford to live in the U.S. or starve us out when the food runs out in the small rural grocery stores. That's if the current government survives the coming recession. If you have a way to grow some of your own food, and can set up an alternative power source, this would be the time to do so. I expect that within the next five years or so, the U.S. will be fighting rolling power outages across the country as the morbidly rich steal what electricity is available for their data centers and Amazon warehouses.
This is just sickening, pure and simple. As someone who lives in a red state, there is no way in hell I can do anything that will make a difference in changing the outcome of this bill, but this is by design. Calling over and over is just an exercise in futility. We have been living in a One Party State for quite a while, regardless of which party is in the majority, unfortunately, because neither party reaches across the aisle any more. This is akin to trying to walk with one leg or juggling with one arm, and the only reason I can think why this has evolved is that those who want to wrest control from the rest of us has figured out that it only takes a coalition of 51% to ignore the 49%, or 79% or 99%. How do you counter such a calculus? It has destroyed our democracy and has sold off the commons to the highest bidders.
What “Daddy” wants is a sad excuse. Even without subsidies wind & solar are better investments than any of the fossil fuels, especially in the long run. Once they recover all their equipment & construction costs there are no on going fuel cost only maintenance. The rancher, farmer, local utility or investment group if they own the set-ups are on a gravy train. Money for nothing as the sun & wind are free.

Yes, they're rushing into the 19th century as fast as they can; or we allow them.

I am always amazed at how cheaply the fossil fuel industry pays off our government, or any special interest for that matter. Pennies.

Recommend you ask Elmo how many 'receipts' he has re: Donald.
A reasonable, testable hypothesis is that Elmo has at least as many as Vlad.
Don has never done battle with anyone like Elmo.
Stay tuned, as they say ....
Not quite a kill shot for clean energy, but still a grave wound. Ngl, it's hard to remain upbeat at a time like this, but tomorrow is a new day.
