I learned a LOT from today's newsletter, much of which will be helpful in putting the brakes on the purchase of beauty products in my own household, as well as those of my extended family. Thanks so much for diving into this one... also, great to see Fish so happy & relaxed!! <3

Yo, move to Maine. I never wear makeup and virtually no one I know wears makeup; it freaks me out to be with someone who I know “can’t leave the house til I have my face on,” — something I remember from my Ohio days…Will it help when people come to understand how toxic that shit is? Probably not since nowadays we are all just flotsam bobbing in the toxic stew our world has become. Time to clean up the whole act and start over. Thank you Emily for again saying the things people don’t want to hear. But in such a bad-assly nice way

You are right that awareness of petroleum based products is low beyond plastics. Somedays it all just feels so fucking hopeless.

Thanks to both of you for this. Have either of you looked at the downward spiral created by the increased strength of chemicals in our water supply? Officials say these, in turn, are needed to kill increased bacteria from upstream agricultural processes (also fossil fuel based). Without a water filter, our skin gets so dry we need more cream to compensate.
